Premiere of the digitally restored classic “Six days of June” at the A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema

The film classic “Six Days of June,” directed by Dinko Tucaković and written by Nebojša Pajkić, will have its premiere on August 30 as part of the A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema. This is the 34th film to be digitally restored within the A1 Kinoteka project, continuing the mission of preserving and reviving film classics, allowing audiences to experience old stories in top-quality pictures and sound.

This domestic classic, filmed in 1985, is memorable not only for the unique touch of its director and writer, the unusual plot and atmosphere, and the fantastic cast but also for the unforgettable music composed by Vlada Divljan and performed by the renowned Yugoslav band “VIS Idoli.” This was the last album the band made together. The songs from the film are still popular today, including hits like “Ona to zna,” “Ljubavi,” and others.

“I am very pleased that with the premiere of the digitally restored film ‘Six Days of June,’ we are concluding another warm movie summer. Like the previous 33 films that we have digitally restored at the Department of Digitization and Restoration of the Yugoslav Film Archive as part of the A1 Kinoteka project, this is one of the 20 films that the audience will be able to watch for free at the A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema on the rooftop terrace of the Dom Vojske Srbije,” said Ksenija Zelenović, Deputy Director of the Yugoslav Film Archive and Editor of the A1 Kinoteka program, adding: “‘Six Days of June’ is the first film directed by our late colleague Dinko Tucaković, a longtime program editor at the Yugoslav Film Archive, and with this screening, the Kinoteka pays tribute to this great film connoisseur. The film is remembered for its intriguing theme, cast, screenplay, and soundtrack composed by one of the most respected musicians and performers from the region, Vlada Divljan.”

The film’s plot unfolds in a small Yugoslav town where the main character, played by Nebojša Krstić—known to the local audience as a member of the music band “VIS Idoli”—spends his last days, six days in June, before joining the army, engaged in casual summer hangouts. The planned days take an unusual and uncertain turn when his peers, who study in the big city, return to the town. Two groups from different social backgrounds and futures meet daily but do not communicate. Among the students is a beautiful girl whom the main character awkwardly tries to approach. Instead of heading to the army, he embarks on a path of uncertainty.

The main roles are played by Nebojša Krstić, Olivera Marković, Gorica Popović, Irfan Mensur, Stojan Stole Aranđelović, Dušan Janićijević, Mladen Andrejević, Mladen Nelević, Siniša Čopić, and others.

Tickets for the digitally restored films as part of the A1 Kinoteka project are available for free and can be collected at the entrance of the Dom Vojske Srbije up to one hour before the start of the film. In case of rain, the screening will be moved to the Yugoslav Film Archive in the Makavejev Hall at Uzun Mirkova 1, starting at 21:15. Following the premiere on August 30, there will be two additional free screenings at the Yugoslav Film Archive, also in the Makavejev Hall, on September 9, with the first screening at 18:00 and the second at 20:30.

The A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema is organized for the third year in a row in collaboration between the Yugoslav Film Archive, A1 Serbia, and the Dom Vojske. The complete program of the A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema can be downloaded from the Yugoslav Film Archive’s website and at the box offices in Uzun Mirkova and the Dom Vojske Srbije.
