More than 10,000 viewers attended the A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema

As in the previous two years, the audience once again showed great interest in outdoor film screenings this summer as part of the A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema project. Over 48 days, 48 films were screened, attracting more than ten thousand people.

The A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema has been organized for the third consecutive year in collaboration with the Yugoslav Film Archive, the Dom Vojske, and A1 Serbia.

“The audience’s reaction, just like in previous years, was exceptional. The screenings were full every night, and for some films, there were even more ticket requests. This shows that there is room and interest among the public for quality films from both international and domestic productions that are not necessarily blockbusters but carefully selected titles of various genres, styles, and eras,” said Ksenija Zelenović, Deputy Director of the Yugoslav Film Archive and Program Director of the A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema: “During the summer, we screened 48 titles, including 20 contemporary international films, 7 classics, and 21 digitally restored films as part of the A1 Kinoteka project, one of which premiered, allowing the audience to see them in the original quality they had when first released.”

“The works of art that we digitally restore as part of the A1 Kinoteka project are not just timeless films; they are stories that connect different generations, and it is a great honour for us to breathe new life into them. However, our commitment to this project does not end with digital restoration—we aim to remind the community of the importance and significance of these films in a way that is both appealing and nostalgic,” said Judit Albers, General Director of A1 Serbia, adding: “That’s why we organized a series of film nights as part of the open-air summer cinema on the rooftop of one of the most iconic buildings in the heart of Belgrade. I believe that watching classic films under the open sky brings a special charm, especially when surrounded by the authentic energy of the city. I want to thank everyone who shared these unique moments of enjoying cultural heritage with us, in an environment that merges the past and the present, creating unforgettable memories for the future.”

Once again, the A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema has confirmed that watching movies outdoors is a special experience and that Belgrade deserves this kind of cultural event. The fantastic view of the city centre from the rooftop terrace of the Dom Vojske, along with films by renowned international and domestic directors, were undoubtedly the reasons for such a high attendance.

As this summer of cinema comes to an end, we eagerly await the next one, when we will once again have the opportunity to see many current titles or some classics that we haven’t had the chance to watch yet.
