IKEA unveils new edition of Its iconic STOCKHOLM collection

To mark the 40th anniversary of its legendary collection, IKEA has launched its newest and most extensive edition yet – STOCKHOLM 2025. The collection includes 96 carefully crafted pieces, made from premium materials in true Scandinavian style. Striking sofas, beautifully made wooden furniture, handwoven wool rugs, chandeliers, and hand-blown glass vases reflect the brand’s distinctive design philosophy.

The STOCKHOLM collection has evolved through eight editions, each unique yet consistent in presenting modern Scandinavian design. The latest edition features a wide range of furniture, textiles, lighting, and decorative pieces, with a special focus on materials that age beautifully and blend seamlessly into home interiors. Solid wood, natural fibres, linen, and leather are combined into long-lasting pieces such as sturdy wooden furniture, handwoven wool rugs, and handcrafted rattan objects. The collection also includes two retro-inspired chandeliers, each packed with white gloves for assembly. Despite their high quality and craftsmanship, the products remain affordably priced.

Karin Gustavsson, who led the creative team at IKEA of Sweden, commented:
“Our goal was to create a collection where every piece tells a story. Craftsmanship was at the heart of this project — traditional techniques and hand-finishing resulted in durable, beautiful design pieces that stand the test of time.”

Three Swedish designers, each with a unique aesthetic, collaborated to create a cohesive yet diverse collection in which individual pieces can either stand out on their own or be mixed and matched. While the name STOCKHOLM evokes a vibrant city, the design team found inspiration in both urban landscapes and the serene nature and islands surrounding the Swedish capital. The combination of rich, earthy tones with natural wood and textiles mirrors the colours and textures of untouched nature.

A Look Inside STOCKHOLM 2025

The collection is led by two standout sofas. Designer Ola Wihlborg created a wide modular sofa, available in four colours depending on the market. Designed to hold its shape without the need to adjust cushions, the sofa was perfected through more than 30 prototypes. Its modular elements can be used individually or connected to form the desired length.

The second sofa, crafted with a solid pine frame and white cushions, was designed by Nike Karlsson. This model is made from natural materials, including woven fabric, natural latex, and coconut fibres.

The collection celebrates the beauty of natural materials, with rattan featured in several products, and chairs crafted using traditional techniques that result in soft, rounded forms. Textile designer Paulin Machado drew inspiration from nature, designing lampshades with forest motifs and wool rugs with birch patterns in green, black, and white tones. Her use of natural dyes reflects the seasonal changes of the Swedish landscape.

The STOCKHOLM 2025 collection also includes ceramic and porcelain tableware, such as glazed plates and bowls, as well as a series of drinking glasses. Unique vases — including hand-blown glass and irregularly shaped black ceramic pieces — round out the offering.

The STOCKHOLM 2025 collection will be available at IKEA Serbia stores and online starting April 10, 2025, with product availability depending on the market. For more information, visit the IKEA website.
