A1 Ultra 5G arrives in Šabac – mobile internet up to eight times faster, with expanding coverage every month
Stronger network performance is now available in urban and key business zones across Serbia; Try & Buy offer available for new users.
Residents of Šabac now have the opportunity to use the A1 Ultra 5G network, bringing significantly faster and more reliable mobile internet. Šabac is among the first urban areas in Serbia with 5G coverage, and users can already experience speeds up to eight times faster compared to the 4G network—without any additional activation or changes to their tariff plans.
As soon as users see the 5G icon on their phone screens, it means they are connected to the A1 Ultra 5G network. As coverage continues to expand month by month, an increasing number of cities and users will enjoy a future-ready network designed to support everything from seamless streaming to advanced digital services.

“This is a historic moment for A1 Serbia,” said Judit Albers, CEO of A1 Serbia. “Connectivity is the foundation of the digital economy and of improving everyday quality of life. With A1 Ultra 5G and our rapidly expanding optical network, we are building a strong and reliable infrastructure with the capacity to support all future growth opportunities—for both our users and Serbia. It is important to us that people feel the difference in a tangible way: faster connections, more reliable internet, and a simpler, more enjoyable digital life enabled by innovative products and services.”
To start enjoying the Ultra 5G network immediately, users only need to:
- Be within the A1 Ultra 5G coverage area;
- Use a 5G-compatible smart device;
- Enable 5G in their phone settings.
- Have a USIM or eSIM card (older 3G SIM cards are not compatible).
Thanks to new frequency bands (700 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 3500 MHz) and so-called non-standalone (NSA) 5G technology, A1 Ultra 5G delivers immediate and noticeable network performance improvements:
- Significantly higher download speeds, up to 1 Gbps;
- Better streaming and gaming experiences with lower latency;
- More stable and reliable network performance, even during peak congestion.
“A1 Serbia has already proven that speed and network reliability are our top priorities through five consecutive years of receiving the Ookla certification. I am confident that the development of our Ultra 5G network will further strengthen this commitment. 5G is crucial for the next decade of digital development,” said Nenad Zeljković, Chief Technology Officer of A1 Serbia. “Traffic on our network is growing by more than 40% annually, clearly showing that mobile internet usage is becoming more frequent and intensive. A1 Ultra 5G provides the capacity and speed users already expect today, while laying a strong foundation for future technologies such as IoT, automation, and advanced digital services.”
Those who are not yet A1 customers can now try Ultra 5G completely free of charge and without obligation:
- Through simple online activation, without visiting a store.
- By testing network speed, performance, and coverage;
- With an easy transition to the A1 network, should they decide to switch.
For existing customers, A1 is launching seasonal benefits on selected plans, including unlimited mobile internet for up to 12 months.
At launch, A1 Ultra 5G delivers enhanced performance precisely where users need it most—city centres, business districts, and the most visited tourist destinations, such as Kopaonik, Zlatibor, and Vrnjačka Banja. In the first phase, in addition to Šabac, the Ultra 5G network is available in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Kragujevac, Pančevo, Čačak, Subotica, Kraljevo, Leskovac, Kruševac, Novi Pazar, as well as around ten smaller towns. Coverage will continue to expand month by month.

The strength of A1 Serbia is rooted in the stability of the A1 Group, which is part of one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies—América Móvil. The Group continues to invest significantly in Serbia: in addition to the €1.5 billion already invested, a further €250–300 million in investments is planned for strategic development, including the expansion of fixed and mobile infrastructure.
