A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema kicks off on July 15

The terrace of the House of the Army will once again be a gathering place for cinema lovers

A good tradition, to the delight of all film enthusiasts, continues. This summer, just like the previous two years, the terrace of the House of the Army of Serbia will once again host the A1 Kinoteka summer cinema, running from July 15 to August 31, with 48 films being screened. Evening screenings under the open sky will take place every night at 9 PM, offering audiences the chance to enjoy carefully selected contemporary film titles, cult classics of Serbian cinema digitally restored as part of the “A1 Kinoteka” project and international classics. A1 Kinoteka Summer Cinema is organized in cooperation with the Yugoslav Film Archive, A1 Serbia, and the House of the Army.
“With great pleasure, we set up the movie screen under the open sky, where the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy world and cult, digitally restored films. The restoration of films is essential for preserving culture and collective identity, and we are extremely proud of our contribution to preserving film cultural heritage so far. As reflections of art, social dynamics, and historical events of their time, these films allow contemporary audiences to understand the evolution of cinematic art. A1 Kinoteka summer cinema is a great opportunity for this, and I invite all film lovers to visit the terrace of the House of the Army until the end of August. Together with our partners, we will continue to improve the technical quality of domestic classics, giving them new life for the enjoyment of the audience,” said Judit Albers, General Manager of A1 Serbia.
“The A1 Kinoteka summer cinema on the terrace of the House of the Army in the city centre has become a favourite gathering place for film enthusiasts. Offering the audience a quality repertoire, based on both domestic and foreign classics, as well as films that have marked the last few years of European and world production, is a true pleasure. I am very pleased that this project, thanks to our partners A1 Serbia and the House of the Army, continues to thrive for the third consecutive year, to the delight of audiences enjoying this unique ambience,” said Ksenija Zelenović, Deputy Director of the Yugoslav Film Archive and Program Editor of A1 Kinoteka summer cinema, adding: “This year’s edition of the A1 Kinoteka summer cinema starts with a free screening of the digitally restored film within the A1 Kinoteka project ‘The Elusive Summer of ’68’ by Goran Paskaljević. In addition to domestic classics, totalling 21 from the A1 Kinoteka project, the audience will also be able to watch contemporary production titles such as ‘Enea’ by Pierre Castel, ‘In Therapy’ by Gerard Herrero, the film ‘Beasts’ directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, the multi-award-winning film ‘Triangle of Sadness’ by Ruben Ostlund, ‘Last Night of Love’ directed by Andrea Di Stefano, ‘Barton’s Academy’ by Alexander Payne, and many others.
